Nicks Sports Bar and Grill
I am very biased for this particular establishment. Again, the food was great as always, I always get the same thing and it has never disappointed. I frequent this bar at least once a week, and my friend is there a little more. It is a rare occasion to have bad service here. The one time we did have bad service was with a waitress that I don't think I have seen since then. Yesterday I went there to watch the second half of the Texas Tech football game against Texas with my older brother and met my friend and his wife there. They showed up at the beginning of the game and already had a table. There is always a waitress or the manager at the door to greet you, which is always nice. It is a self seating bar just like most of them, so there was no wait or anything of the sort (there never is, unless it is extremely busy). We went in sat right down with our friends and was immediately waited on by a waitress that we have had before and is always good. She took our drink order and was back with them really quick, which was really nice considering we had only ordered tea (it was only 1 in the afternoon), and sometimes when you don't order an alcoholic drink of some sort at a bar you tend to get bad service or at least slow service because waiters and waitresses want to wait on tables where drinking is going on because that's where they are going to make the most money. This was not the case this time. She took our order as soon as she brought our drinks back. My tea was almost empty when she filled it up the first time, which did not bother me because my food was not out yet. You will learn that I drink alot while I eat, keeping my drink (which is usually tea) full is very important to me. As soon as our food came out she refilled our teas, which was a plus, and brought us silverware within seconds. As soon as I was done eating I ordered a beer along with my friend that was already sitting there and of course that was brought back very quickly and the next two I ordered were brought to us before our older beers were empty, which is a huge plus at a bar. There is nothing worse than having an empty beer and still having to wait on the waiter or waitress to come and even take the order. They were switching out the keg on our particular beer at one time, and she came right over and told us about it and said it would be a few extra minutes because of it. That is significant because I am a huge believer of educating the customer. She could have just as easily let us wait the few extra minutes, which may not have been a big deal to us, but with her taking out the extra time to make it a point to tell us about the keg being switched out kept us at ease while we waited for our next beer. I was not empty by any means but my friend was getting there and he may have noticed that his new beer wasn't there yet, which in the surface seems minuscule but in reality had she not said anything about the keg and then it took longer than expected to switch it out and then took her longer to deliver the beer which keeps an empty glass in front of him, which most bar hoppers and drinkers do notice could ultimately take away from her tip at the end of the day, which she saved by taking a few seconds to say "they are switching out the kegs, so it will be a few minutes." In all actuality, she was back at our table quickly with our new beers and all was good. I think of all the times I have been there, which is a lot, We have had one bad experience, with a waitress that did not seem to know what she was doing, and like I said earlier, I have not seen her in there since. I have to give 4 and half stars again, because it was not perfect but pretty darn close. It will take a lot for me to give a perfect five stars, but this was as close to getting them as it will come.
